DaysFly is now licensing its voice-interactive technology for a low monthly cost to selected developers. Whatever the theme—horror, sci-fi, fantasy, western, or teen romance—you can provide an interactive, hands-free experience to a rapidly growing audience through the magic of Alexa.

Introducing the Alexa Game Engine

With the Alexa Game Engine, you can publish an interactive game controlled only with your voice. Create worlds that are explored using words—no screen needed. Provide an engaging experience to people driving in their cars or in any hands-free setting. Reach the handicapped and visually impaired. Inspire the imaginations of young people. With the Alexa Game Engine, you can bring your existing audio assets to a new market. All without writing a single line of code.

The Alexa Game Engine (AGE) allows you to develop your own Alexa game and publish it directly to Amazon. AGE supports the kind of objects you expect to find in a world of your own creation—rooms (i.e., scenes where actions occur), agents (characters who engage with the player), and items (things the player can pick up, use, and dispose of).  Write the dialogue that Alexa delivers and add sound effects to draw people in. Once your game passes certification, it will appear in Amazon's Alexa skill store and can be played by an audience of over 50 million people worldwide (and counting).

AGE is preconfigured to use a typical collection of verbs (go, pick up, read, etc.) and can be customized to include as many others as you'd like, as well as your own slot values (nouns) and commands  (phrase templates). It delivers a combination of Alexa's voice response, MP3 audio (music and sound effects), and background visuals for supported devices, like the Echo Show. Using AGE, you can create a game that only delivers custom audio and voiceovers and foregoes Alexa's voice entirely, if you choose. It has support for all current speech directives, including the new polly voices. You can develop dialogue with gender and a range of accents without the need to hire actors.

AGE can support anything from an interactive audiobook to a complete fantasy role-playing game, with magical items, experience points, player stats, leveling, multiple saved games, and combat. Combat involves non-player characters that join you (and fight on your side) as well as fight against you.

AGE is configured using a game console—a drag-and-drop, web-based interface that allows you to set up rooms, exits, items, agents, and sayings (i.e., special phrases you direct at agents within the game, like spells). You can upload sound files and visual assets to plug into your game. An easy-to-use wizard will guide you through the creation of actions, which form the logic behind the things a player can do in the game.

AGE includes a step-by-step tutorial on how to create your game and seamlessly publish it to Amazon. You receive any profit paid by Amazon for its success. AGE also allows you to create in-skill products that can be sold within your game (e.g., upgraded access to your game, a monthly subscription, a pack of 10 hints, or a magical item). The sale is processed through Amazon and paid to you directly.

The game engine and game console will be ready for public release in Q1 2019. In the meantime, developers can arrange for special access by contacting DaysFly.
